Qubitica, the Digital Cooperative has relocated its headquarters to Mauritius. The decision is to take advantage of the Blockchain Sandbox implemented by the Indian Ocean Island, which is the first in Africa.
It is a strategic plan to penetrate the African market and provide Fintech solutions to businesses on the continent while making use of the regulatory environment to serve their global customers. Moreover, Qubitica wants to strengthen its community by recruiting more people with requisite skills from Africa.
The headquarters is based at the Mauritius African Fintech Hub (MAFH) and headed by Afrikanus Kofi Akosah as the Head of Community. This arrangement will also allow Qubitica to collaborate and interact with other Fintech companies working under the hub.
“Our decision to move to Mauritius was influenced by the regulatory framework that is in place for emerging technologies like Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence,”Kofi Akosah Adusei informed QT. “We intend to take advantage of that to spread our wings on the African continent, as well as expanding our global reach.
Adusei Announced that their immediate focus is to collaborate with educational institutions and forge partnerships with other companies to provide technological solutions. Qubitica will engage in research and Proof of Concepts to tackle problems in Africa and around the world.
The Mauritius Africa FinTech Hub has created an enabling environment for governments, entrepreneurs, financial service providers, corporations, tech experts, investors, Educational and research institutions to cooperate and build cutting-edge solutions for the emerging African market.
MAFH mission is to assist international FinTech companies and financial service providers to access the African market. Additionally, It facilitates African FinTech enterprises to do business across borders.
The hub is facilitating Mauritius’ commitment to function as the FinTech gateway to and from Africa. With just one year in existence, MAFH has over twenty companies working under its umbrella.
Background Of Qubitica’s Head of Community
Afrikanus Kofi Akosah Adusei is one of the leading Blockchain Technology experts in Africa. He has almost two decades of experience in journalism and communications.
Akosah has been in the Blockchain space since 2011 and worked in various capacities with networks like Dash, Xinfin, Smartcash, Waves, Gulden among others. He previously worked for Qubitica as Africa Community Manager.
Since 2016, he has been travelling through Africa promoting Blockchain technologies, writing about its communities, living on and earning Cryptocurrency alone without a bank account. So far he has been to 22 African countries organising meetups and training, attending conferences and representing Blockchain companies.
